The next thing Cor’Vos saw was Jayna’s face above him. He couldn’t hear anything just yet. But he could see her lips moving. She smiled and then looked behind her and said something to someone he couldn’t see.

He felt his armor. There were definitely dents in it, but otherwise he seemed unharmed. He knew he’d be sore for weeks though.

“Can you hear me?” Jayna asked when she returned.

Her voice was muffled, but he could understand her well enough. He nodded. “Pretty much.”

She smiled and helped him to a sitting position. He was outside the castle. He looked around and saw the debris of the giant machine a few yards away. His helmet lay next to him in the ground.

Cor’Vos blinked and stretched out his jaw. His ears popped and a barrage of sounds came rushing in.

“Are you okay?” Jayna asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

Cor’Vos turned to her and smiled. “Yes, I think so.”

“Can you stand?” She asked.

Cor’Vos hadn’t even thought about his legs until she mentioned it. “Maybe?” He said with an awkward laugh. He couldn’t really feel them, but he hoped it was just his body getting used to being awake again.

Carefully, she helped him to his feet. It was rough at first, and he definitely had to lean on Jayna for support. But he stabilized eventually.

“So it’s over now?” She asked.

Cor’Vos nodded. “He’s dead, the machine is destroyed, and the wolves are deactivated.” He twisted his neck around slowly. “Speaking of which, where’s the girl?” They turned and began walking back to the castle.

“She’s with the redstone scientists right now. They think she’ll be okay.” Jayna said.

“Perfect. So everything worked out then.” Cor’Vos said with a smile.

Jayna took his hand and gave it a warm squeeze. “Yes. But you need your rest. Come on.”

Cor’Vos didn’t argue. He let her help him back into the castle.
